The Art department offers a variety of courses to Lake Placid students. All of them are designed to create a better understanding and appreciation for the Arts.

STUDIO IN DRAWING AND PAINTING COMPUTER GRAPHICS CURRICULUM


NY STATE ART PORTFOLIO PROJECT


 ARTIST REPLICATION

 NY STATE STANDARDS

Students were required to select an artist and choose one work done by the artist. After doing research on the internet, students were given the task of replicating the work using ClarisWorks 5.0 painting software.


STYLE SYNTHESIS

 NY STATE STANDARDS

Students selected an artist's style and techniques and incorporated some of their own original composition using ClarisWorks 5.0 painting software.


 SELF PORTRAIT

 NY STATE STANDARDS

Students created a rendering of themselves in pencil, then scanned this self-portrait. They were then asked to "alter" or complete the scanned image by adding color, interesting line or detail to their portrait. ClarisWorks 5.0 painting software and Photoshop 3.0 software.


STUDIO COURSE SAMPLES

Assorted samples of student work from the Studio in Drawing&Painting and Studio in Art-Comprehensive Foundations courses. Students range from grade 9 to 12.


MURALS

Students researched the art and culture of the aboriginal people Australia. Students then created murals in acrylic paint which told a story and which also combined the Gagudju "x-ray" style and Papunya "dot" painting style and technique.
