NEW YORK STATE ART TEACHER'S ASSOCIATION
PORTFOLIO PROJECT
The New York State Art Teacher Association's Portfolio Project is based upon New York State's Learning Standards for the Arts. This assessment instrument is derived from the performance indicators within each of the four standards and is a measure of what students should know and be able to do.
March 1999 was the first year the the Portfolio Project was implemented. Lake Placid High School was the first host in our region for this assessment project. The project assessed student portfolios in grades 4 through high school, including Studio in Art and 3 and 5 year sequence candidates.
Student found the process to be interesting and productive. The opportunity to organize and display their portfolios for regional art educators proved challenging and rewarding.
Continue to check back on this site, we will soon be posting a complete student portfolio and reactions to the portfolio evaluation process.
