Exercise Description
Brief Summary:
Students will be inspired by the artist selected for their artist replication
assignment. They will select an artist's style and technique and will incorporate
those aspects into their own original composition using ClarisWorks 5.0
painting software.
Materials:
Software: Painting ClarisWorks 5.0
Context: prior learning, total curriculum, learning in other disciplines, age appropriate learning basic computer knowledge, basic compositional knowledge in art, principles of design: variety, unity, movement, balance, emphasis and rhythm and basic drawing skill, knowledge of techniques and style of artist.
Student Activity:
Students will create an image utilizing the style/techniques of their chosen artist. The final composition will be an original work of art by the student.
Knowledge Guiding Practice: (general knowledge, multiple pathways to learning, problem solving abilities, critical thinking, cultural investigations) which contribute to a deeper understanding of the arts.
1.) Show students examples of finished compositions for this assignment.
2.) Critique of finished compositions.
3.) Self-evaluations of computer images.
