Financial Aid
If you are keeping up with the process, you have already filed
the FAFSA. If not, you should do so soon in order to qualify for
grants, loans, and/or work study. Here is the process:
- Complete and mail the FAFSA. Forms available in the guidance
office.Complete and mail the CSS Profile, if necessary (check individual
college requirements).
The SAR (Student aid Report) is mailed to you. Review and
make corrections if necessary. The SAR does not tell you how much
aid you will receive from any given school.
Schools will send out award letters based on the SAR (and
other) information. This will specify how much aid is being offered
to you at this school only.
NY State will mail you a TAP application for state aid.
Complete and return.

Other Tidbits:
- The Army and Air National Guard
offers to pay full SUNY tuition; students serve one weekend a
month, and 2 additional weeks while they go to school.
- 4-year enlistments into the armed
services can earn a student $50,000 or more toward college. Students
attend college during and after their term of service.
- There is still time to apply to
community colleges, two- and four-year colleges with rolling admissions,
and late deadline schools where admission is less competitive.
- Students seeking direct employment
after high school should bring their resume to the high school
guidance office; job and career opportunities can be forwarded
to those students.
- Students who would like to join
the national service organization -- Americorps -- can
call 1-800-942-2677 or locally 873-9544.
