INTRODUCTION
As students
continue to work toward meeting the NYS
Standards, the
Saranac Lake Central School District and Lake Placid Central School District
will continue to offer the opportunity to succeed by sponsoring the FEH BOCES
Regional Summer School Program at no cost to resident students.
This program was
instituted to provide 6th—12th grade students the opportunity to:

Make up courses which
were not successfully Completed during the school year.
● Challenge
New York State exams and raise their Grade or receive Regents credit for the course
● Enrich
their program by electing to take additional courses.
● Access
Academic Intervention Services, gainingand maintaining additional skill levels.

*Resident or
nonresident students not enrolled in summer school may register to take RCT or
Regents Exams with approval from
their high school principal or guidance counselor.
*Resident or
nonresident students may be admitted to the State Assessments (walk-ins) with a
letter of approval from their high school principal. The letter must clearly indicate the studentÕs identity and
entitlement to take the exam.
*Nonresident
students will be charged a reasonable fee, Reflecting the districtsÕ costs for administering and
scoring exams for walk-ins.
GENERAL
INFORMATION
Transportation:
Local
School District Bus Transportation will be made available for only Lake
Placid resident students. Saranac Lake and non-resident students will furnish
their own transportation. Bicycle storage will be available at their own
risk. Secondary students intending to drive are required to register their
vehicle and park only in designated areas. (Forms are available at registration).
Attendance/Class
Participation:
All
students will receive a class participation grade based on the quality of In-class
student performance and not mere attendance. A student who has poor attendance,
is unprepared, or unresponsive will receive a poor participation grade that may
result in denial of course credit or a passing grade.
Grading/Report
Cards:
Report
cards will be issued at three weeks and after final exams. Final course
averages will be determined by the following formula: Two times three week
marking period, two times second three weeks, plus final exam divided by five.
Discipline:
BOCES
Regional Summer School students will abide by the School Code of Conduct. Any
disciplinary procedures requiring intervention beyond the Summer School
Principal will be conducted by the home school administrator.
Library:
The
library will be open to students from 7:30 a.m. until
1:15
p.m. daily. Students with a free period are encouraged to use the library as a
study hall.
Textbooks and
Class Materials:
All
texts will be on loan from Saranac Lake Central School District. Students are
expected to care for them and will be charged for loss or damage. Students will
be responsible for supplying their own notebooks, paper, pens, and pencils.
Health Office:
The Health Office
will be staffed. Students with
special needs should indicate this on your registration form.
Cafeteria:
Regional
Summer School does not maintain a cafeteria for lunch or refreshments. Please eat a hearty breakfast or pack a
snack for break.
Please be advised:
Guests are not welcome and should not be on
campus at any time. Please do not
ask to bring friends or relatives to class with you. Unless you are utilizing
the library, you must leave campus at the end of class.
